TURNERS TRAVEL WELCOMES NEW STAFF MEMBER TO TEAM

WE wish to welcome Val Mardon to our Travel Team. Val has been in the travel industry for over ten years and is looking forward to meeting her new clients, and assisting Rachelle Smith in the Sales Department.

A330-200 AIRCRAFT FOR SOUTH AFRICAN AIRWAYS

SIX new A330-200s have been leased to replace the A340-200s. The first of these exceptional A330 will be delivered in February 2011. All six will be delivered by the end of 2011. The cabin will consist of 36 Business Class seats and 186 Economy Class seats. The total number is 222 seats. The interior design complements the SAA lounge design, creating a continuous theme from the lounge to onboard. More information on the new exceptional A330-200s will be uploaded on Flysaa.com in the near future.

Transportation of Cycles by SAA
The efficient and safe carriage of your bicycle to and from Cape Town is of prime importance and every endeavour will be made by SAA to ensure that your bicycle receives the appropriate care and handling in carriage. Following, is a list of the arrangements to note, as well as some important hints:
Reservations:
Remember to inform your travel agent that your bicycle will be accompanying you at time of reservation.
Payment Options:
Your bicycle will be transported at a handling fee of R250.00 including VAT per sector, to and from Cape Town. Handling fees are payable at any Pick 'n Pay store of your choice and payment is applicable to all Cape Argus Cycle Tour participants travelling on SAA flights.
The applicable bicycle charge will be valid for transportation:
05 - 12 March 2011 to Cape Town
13 - 20 March 2011 from Cape Town
Packing of Bicycles:
Bicycles must be securely packed. Special boxes and bags are obtainable from bicycle outlets and associations. Please make use of this type of packaging as it prevents your bicycle from possible damage. South African Airways will not take liability for damages of bicycles if they are not securely packed in the special boxes or bags. Kindly ensure that the box or bag is clearly marked with your contact details. Handlebars should be turned parallel with the frame, pedals removed or turned inward, tyres deflated and the seat must be put down. All electronic equipment must be removed and transported separately. All Carbon Dioxide cylinders used to inflate bicycle tyres will be treated as Dangerous Goods and must be shipped as Cargo. Please note also that the carriage of bicycle tyres in the overhead compartment of the aircraft will not be allowed as the tyres do not meet the minimum size requirements and this may cause damage to both the aircraft and the bicycle equipment. The opening of bicycle boxes/bags may be conducted as a security measure.
Departing - O.R. Tambo International Airport:
Cyclists departing from Johannesburg must hand their bicycles in at the specially designated area at the Domestic Arrivals Terminal B Kerbside. (06h00 - 20h00). No assurance can be given that your bicycle will be carried on the same flight on which you are travelling. It is advisable for cyclists to hand their bicycles in from 05 -12 March 2011. Bicycles will be accepted only presentation of a passenger air ticket or the e-ticket printout and proof of payment. Ensure that you obtain a baggage claim tag (Limited Release Tag) at time of presenting your bicycle to South African Airways. Kindly note that South African Airways accepts limited liability in accordance with its General Conditions of Carriage for Passengers and Baggage.
Arrival - Cape Town International Airport:
Bicycles will be delivered to a specially designated area. Please be patient when waiting for the delivery of your bicycle - it may take a while to offload the container containing your bicycle. If your bicycle has bee forwarded on an earlier flight, it must be collected from the designated area. (Please follow the directional signage). Bicycles will only be delivered against a baggage claim tag (Limited Release Tag). On collection of the bicycle, the baggage claim must be presented together with your ID or passport. No collection can be made without the claim tag and for security measures the bicycle will not be released without proof of valid identification. Should a third party collect the bicycle on behalf of yourself, the person collecting the bicycle should be in possession of a copy of your ID or Passport as well as his/her own ID/Passport, a letter of authority from yourself and the baggage claim tag.
Bicycles can be collected between the hours of 08h00 and 23h00.
Departing - Cape Town International Airport
Cyclists departing from Cape Town must hand their bicycles in at the specially designated area (06h00 - 20h00). Where cyclists and bicycles arrive in Cape Town over a period of a few days, experience has shown that most cyclists tend to return on the Sunday/Monday after the Tour. The result is that the capacity for all bicycles is not always available. Your bicycle may, therefore, only arrive at your destination after you. 08h00 and 23h00.

Cyclists must collect their bicycles from the specially designated area at the Domestic Arrivals Terminal B Kerbside. SAA LAUNCHES NON-STOP SERVICE BETWEEN JOHANNESBURG AND NEW YORK

EFFECTIVE 1st May 2011, SAA will offer their customers the convenience of flying non-stop between Johannesburg and New York. Our non-stop flights to New York will allow a full day in Johannesburg with an early morning arrival in New York. Further, the reduced travel time result in fast and efficient connections to several key US destinations such as Boston, Chicago, Florida, California, as well as Canada and the Caribbean," says Theunis Potgieter, SAA's General Manager: Commercial. The non-stop flight from Johannesburg to New York (SA203) will depart OR Tambo International Airport daily at 20h35 (SA local time) arriving John F. Kennedy International Airport at 06h40 (New York local time), whilst the non-stop flights from New York (SA204) will depart daily at 11h15 arriving in OR Tambo International Airport at 08h40. "SAA now offers the fastest and most comfortable ways to commute between Southern Africa and this major global hub. Travellers originating from other domestic points and Southern African countries like Namibia, Botswana, Mozambique, Angola, and Zambia and as far north as Kenya and Tanzania, can now be in New York with a single, quick connection via Johannesburg", says Potgieter. This new service will further strengthen Johannesburg's position as the major aviation hub in Sub Saharan Africa. SAA will utilize the Airbus 340-600 on this ultra long haul operation.
