NEWSFLASH - Flight & Gate Closure Times Revised

WITH the ever changing environment surrounding the formalities to the processing of passengers to certain destinations/countries, it has, after careful consideration, become necessary to amend the current standard close-off time for check-in for both business and economy class passengers at all domestic airports effective from 24th May 2010. It has been noted that there are individuals who do not adhere to the agreed flight and gate closure times. This results in passengers being denied and in some cases flight delays.

You are reminded to strictly adhere to the flight and gate closure times as stipulated in the Passenger Services Manual as well as SAA's website.

FLIGHT CLOSURE TIMES:

• Domestic flights close 30 minutes prior to departure
• Regional and International flights close 50 minutes prior to departure for all classes of travel
• Flights departing from Johannesburg to Luanda, Lagos and Kinshasa close 1 hour prior to departure. Flights departing from Lagos close 2 hours prior to departure.

BOARDING GATES - CLOSURE TIMES:

Boarding gates close 15 minutes prior to departure on domestic flights and 20 minutes for international flights. Passengers who fail to present themselves at the boarding gate before the stipulated time for closure will be denied travel without compensation. All other flight closure times world wide would remain as is.

The decision will ensure that the effected flights will henceforth depart on time and will favourably cater for the expectations of passengers and airline alike in terms of improved service delivery and operational requirements.
