South Africans Abroad
Issued by Association of South African Travel Agents (ASATA) on 28 April 2009
In recent months there have been a number of international incidents whereby families have been anxious to receive information pertaining to passengers who may have been affected by political unrest, acts of terrorism, unpredictable weather changes etc.
Following discussions with the Department of Foreign Affairs, we at ASATA are pleased to endorse and support ROSA "Registration of South Africans Abroad". ROSA is a software programme developed by the Department of Foreign Affairs, allowing travellers to register (their travel itinerary and contact detail) online. ROSA is available to South African citizens who are travelling, living, working and studying abroad.
The registration is a free, voluntary service provided by Government (through the Department of Foreign Affairs). The information that travellers register on ROSA allows the Department of Foreign Affairs to render assistance to South African citizens in event of an emergency.
Access is through the Department of Foreign Affairs' website. The address is http://www.dfa.gov.za/consular/index.html and then click on the ROSA button and follow the easy steps. The Department's internet site uses secure encryption to safeguard against unauthorised access.
If you or your clients require any assistance pertaining to registering on ROSA, please correspond directly to email: rosahelp@foreign.gov.za.
You will soon receive a pamphlet from the Department of Foreign Affairs which contains further information regarding ROSA, as well as a variety of posters, to be displayed in your offices for public viewing.
Your efforts to inform your clients of ROSA, when arranging their holiday package or business trip will be appreciated.
Your kind assistance and cooperation is appreciated.
